Stock power for STI Version 5
Hi folks,
Just joined & posted my car in the members section.
Jus looknig for some clarification, the car is engine wise a stock STI Version 5 4 door, no exhaust or filter mods, the only thing its had done was a remap by Ian Grieve Subaru in Falkirk for UK fuel.
Now this cost the previous owner whopping £500 & I'm wondering what effect it's had on the car, does this mean its probably down on stock power? I mean for £500 I'd be expecting it to be mapped for uk fuel and to be running more power too £500 is a lot for a remap on a stock car.
Also The glorious tinterweb is full of stories of stock power being more than the gentlemans agreement 280bhp of Japans car makers, whats the real deal, is it actually just 280bhp stock or ist it near the 300bhp mark as folk seem to say?
Cheers
Mark

My mate owned a lovely Pure White STi 5 Type R and the previous owner had it dyno'd soon after importing and it made 267bhp - 9bhp down on the std 276bhp (280PS).
But my mate, for safety reasons, had it remapped by Pat Herborn with API Dave driving it, on V-Power but without any other mods - i.e. totally stock - and, freakishly, it made bang on 276bhp!.
So yours will be around the stock 276bhp, and not much more... but the important thing is the AFR's should be safe throughout the whole of the rev range, in all of the gears. This is important, as the STi 5 cars are considered to run the most aggressive timing in their OEM maps - so, if nothing else, a safety remap is considered a very wise move.
