Default AC unit removal from classic

Hi guys,
Can anyone tell me what is the procedure for the above and what exactly is removed/disconnected??

alot of people take it all out : belt
pump
rad ect

i just took my belt off found that easier

i mean did u remove the rad an all components. mine is disconnected but removin system will make car lighter

You personally wont be able to remove the system out of your car, that has to be done by a professional a/c fitter, unless you want a big fine that is

Deliberate release of gas will get you a fine, tho it has to be proved.

Biggest worry is that the escaping gas (which can be under pressure) can cause cold burns/blindness etc.

If you are worried then get it degassed at a garage and keep the receipt. Should be around £20.

Once degassed you can do what the hell you want with the hardware, it's your car....


Personally I would have it regassed and stay cool. The Impreza without air con is a ruddy greenhouse!
