Default scooby sport running problem

hi im thinking of buying a scooby 2002 20L GX sti rep but the car has a problem when you start of in it it has no power what so ever you can put your foot flat to the floor and it sounds like its blocked up then it will hit about 3500 revs and clear and go fine i had a look under the bonnet and it has a induction kit on it with a large silver meatal pipe with about 4 little holes coming of it for pipes to be placed on all these dont have anything connected to them the bloke who owns it says it has this problem most of the time but not always do's anyone have any ideas what it can be as i dont want to buy if its a big problem to sort out

Post a picture - much easier to diagnose...

not got the car yet mate im thinking of buying it but not sure yet got a message sayin might not have a maf senser on it but dont htink there have these as there is a sensor on the before the air filter box

Yeah, that's what I originally thought - because you mentioned about 4 holes... The air filter box should be attached to a MAF (normally black cylinder thing) by 4 bolts/nuts arranged in a rectangle. The opposite, cylindrical end of the MAF will have a a black/rubber intake hose pipe attached, whose other end should attach to the throttle body (in the centre of the inlet manifold)...
