BOB'5, I'm soon going to be fitting a Hyperflow FMIC/740s/IK and intend to max out the 16g to about 340-350bhp (if I'm lucky)...
Is there any worth in fitting a set of tubular headers (like yourself) at this stage of tune? Or will it just needlessly introduce 200-400rpm later spool?
(There's a set of GT Spec2 one going cheaply, and I might invest...)

That was on standard internals. Gearbox didn't last too long but I knew that when it was mapped. Engine lasted a couple of years at that level and had a pretty hard life

Sorry Bob, car is a MY93 WRX. See 'My Garage' for current engine spec (engine has recently been rebuilt by Zen back in March).
Cheers.

I would use tubular headers everytime at that level. On newer cars STi8 TMIC fit/work well, but FMIC is an easier option for earlier cars.
Ultimately speak to your mapper who you should implicitly trust the advice of more than others.

When I had my old car andyf mapped my tdo5 on standard engine to 1.6bar on his laptop and it peaked at 1.7/1.8bar
It was always my most favorite turbo

more boost = more torque = more chance of the gearbox letting go.

Cheers Bob. Yet more (gradually diminishing!) cash reserves to dispose of then

1.8 on a TD05-18g in 5th only. 1.5 in other gears as a gearbox protection.

The TD series are seemingly strong turbo`s, I was wondering why ive heard quite a few people running 2.0+ bar through other turbos like the MD but havent heard of anyone running 2.0+ bar on a TD?
