Whats that noise?? video inside....
i had a camcorder today, to thought i would get the noise recoreded.
the wineing sound has been there since i got the car back, it is not the sound of the air filter
, it happens all the time when on boost, i dont hear it on off boost driving.
happens in low and high boost.
any ideas on what it could be??

I have checked all of the top ones i can get to, and they are all good, next i have got to take the bumper off to check.
but would the mapper notice this as i still have the maf sensor, and the air going into the engine would be different to what the maf reads?

slow connection tonight so waiting on it to load, either exhaust leak (the gasket buzzes like when you blow on a piece of grass between thumb and finger) or intercooler pipe leak - perhaps a clamp is tight as it is at the extent of it's limit rather than tight on the pipe.
If it is a small leak like this then it is unlikely to be noticed whne mapping other than the noise which they may or may not have noticed or it wasn't leaking then..
either way it should be checked
having listenned to vid now it sounds more like vac hose or intercooler leak than exhaust buzz gasket leak.
Simon
PS: what time did you run?

I guess the bulb or is it an led behind the liquid crystal display has gone..
never taken one apart.. I have a couple of ones here, so can sell you one if needed, no idea if the bulb / led is replaceable.

have put new inlet manifold gaskets, and throttle body gaskets on and the noise is still there.
have tried it with no bov, noise still there.
checked the top 2 intercooler pipes, all clampted up good, hoses all look/feel fine.
i havent checked the fmic pipes behind the bumper, but these have not been off.
anyone got any more ideas???

will have a look.
went to mocom racing yesterday to get the gaskets, and he had a listen to the noise, and thought it was boost related.
im running the gt spec 3 bolt gaskets, would it more likele be the 3 bolt one, or the up pipe to turbo?
you start to hear it when you get to over .8 bar boost

Have you checked to see if your inlet manifold is cracked or even worped on the flanges or if you have a split in your intercooler or metal boost pipes? Could be hair line crack which only opens up under boost therefore a tw@ to find when visually inspecting! Could be why its so high pitched!!

Sounds like we both might have the same problem

My noise isn't exactly the same as yours - but not a million miles off. Mine comes on only when on high boost and full throttle. Started have way through a track session.
