Exclamation MY93-96 A'PEXi POWER INTAKE KIT... HOW MUCH BHP ???

As per title, what kind of power level does the below kit's CFM flow rate allow -- 350bhp... 400bhp... 450bhp... or what?

Exclamation

Okay, I'll rephrase the question...

Is anybody running this intake kit (or the version of the kit for the later Classics) and are producing over 400bhp? There must be at least ONE person out there?

A simple question that I need to know the enswer to, please....

Right, JGM has emailed me saying that he has mapped this kit at 401bhp for someone ... But that's probably at it's limits.

If you want more (or really big power) then best to play safe and get a really big cone, such as this K&N one:-

FFS, what do you take me for?! (Unless, of course, you're pointing that out for newbies that may have been misled? ).

millwrx, forget it (like I'm going to )... just get a large K&N cone (see link above). It will produce the goods.

going to stick with my apexi as it fits a treat in the space i have,if simon has mapped one up to 400bhp that will do me as i dont think my car with the 20g turbo will reach that high anyway in realistic terms

I have this Apexi induction kit on my classic Import WRX (260+bhp) except mines running a Blitz SUS Power core type LM filter so I'm assuming that once you've bought this kit you should be able to put different filter's onto it depending on what flow rate you require, available space and fittings.

Yeah, doubt you need a remap if you are replacing the Blitz SUS (assuming you had the Blitz mapped... or if not mapped, then that's the only mod) with the A'PEXi PI - see here:-

http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/

All but the same flow characteristics (same power gain), but the A'PEXi way out in front on the filtration...

Interesting article. My Blitz filter is actually a dry, mesh type filter (not metal) so it should be up there with the Apexi dry, mesh type filter I'd hope.
My car seems to run ok with this set up but I'm hopefully going to have a re-map later this year/early next to get it running sweet.

Ah, if you've got a mesh Blitz rather than that metal thing, then I'm sure that and the A'PEXi are all but identical. Is the Blitz a very similar size as the A'PEXi? (it looks it). If so, bound to have very similar CFM (cubic feet per minute) air flow rates.

It's a very similar size to the A'pexi so should be similar CFM like you said joz8968.
It's ok for now, my mates got a "slightly" more powerful Subaru than me and he's got a HUGE K&N cone filter on his. Must be like 12-14 inches long! that sounded soooo gay (LOL)

Yeah, I've just bought a made-up induction system (less MAF - will get the Z32 one later) and it too is terminated in a large(ish), porno-esque K&N... :-

No mate! That's the bay of the chap's whom I've bought the intake system from. His ID is 'Arch'.

'Tis a nice bay for sure - I'm into it.

Oh never mind. I'm sure yours is lovely to
I to hope that my car one day has those intercooler pipes, light weight pulleys and all those other goodies that can make Subaru's so much better for my car. Its going to be a long project for me though as moneys abit tight as I got made redundant in Feb .
Oh well I can wait and I always do the best for my car even if it means I miss out in other ways.

My bay cetainly will look better when I fit the Hyperflow FM, etc. Unfortunately, the pipes' Samco joiners are black, so will look to match all hoses, etc. - not as 'showy', damn! lol

Sorry to hear about your reduncency - life's a jip.

It seems to be the same for a lot of people with redundancy lately. Never mind at least I've still got my Scoob to chear me up and it does that so well .
Whats that Hyperflow FM like then, good quality? pricey? My mate got a FMIC from eBay and I've got to be fair it doesn't look to bad. Only thing is that it was made by "KHS" or "BlitzL" in China if you know what I mean. Lol. But if it works, then why not.
One thing that you could do if you have different coloured pipes is something like blue for coolant pipes, black for intercooler, red for turbo etc. although would probably end up looking like a gay flag . Best go all the same for that clean "show" kept look.

Yeah, annoyingly my coolant silicones are blue and so are the silicones in that intake kit I've bought.

However, I intend to replace the intakes (and coolant) with Samco's recently introduced v.1/2 kit , which retains the two oil breather ports and the DV recirc port. :-

Roger Clark Motorsport - RCM Product Detail

If I want it in black (or other colour) I can have it specially made but it will take a month (red and blue are available off the shelf, though).

So I CAN have all black hoses!

All black's gonna look sweet I think
I'm either going to have all black, all red or possibly red and black Samcos. Bit undecided but plenty of time to decide.
