Was a VF28 a standard option?

05 what?

WRX = TD04
STi type UK = VF35

JDM STi = VF37?

Not sure what model but I always thought that the VF28 was only standard on the P1 and the late STi Classics.

I presumed what you posted re: the TD04, VF34 and 35 so i will go with that and not purchase a VF28 from a 2005 model!
