Impreza 06 JERKING/LOSS OF POWER! HELP ME PLEASE!
Hello right i recently got a new Subaru Impreza r sport 2006 model only done 29000 miles.
I have only had it since feb and for the past few months on occasion when accelerating it decides to jerk and seems to loose power/flat spot. It is particularly bad when going up a hill in 2nd gear. When driving normally it is bad in 3/4 gear. When at 60mph in 5th you can deff feel the lack of power and feels like it can't decide if it wants to give a constant stream of power. I have plugged a code reader in and nothing has showed up. The car i got from a registered Subaru dealership.
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS COULD BE!?!?!?! PLEASE HELP!

Had similar problem with my sport, think its quite common.
changing the lambda sensor in the exhaust seamed to fix the problem for me.
get a genuine one tho as the aftermarket cheaper ones dont really last that long.
head over to imprezasport.net for lots of usefull information about the sport model.
OR if its still got its 3yr warranty try and get the dealers to change it.

Had simular problem on my dads 2005 sti and it turned out to be the platinum plugs breaking down under heavy acceleration so fitted iridium xi plugs and problem has now gone . Worth checking what plugs you have fitted

Possible Solution
Rite I was abit aprehensive about buying new O2 sensors because of the price. However my dad was looking online and came across a website that said the problem could be caused by the ECU software not been up to date also the ECU is learning the way u drive and if u are driving wrong it can cause the car to jerk (I dunno how it works). A way to solve this is to reset it by disconnecting ur battery over nite. This wipes the ECU memory back to factory settings. I did it and what a difference it made! My car was transformed. However it is not a permanent fix as it obviously needs the software update but it does help! Hope this helps other people!

You cannot wipe new age ecu's that way, they have a none volatile (think that's right) memory, it needs to be reset using a laptop, and I doubt its the ecu software, its been running ok for the last 3 years, the updates are (or should be) done at the service interval, so your problem will arise again, it could even be down to bad fuel.

Been a while but thought
It has been a long time since i signed in on this and thought i would update you all on what was actually causing the problem. I took it to a different Subaru garage and they identified it was the ECU and it had not had the latest software update on it. After they installed it ..... the car felt awesome and has done since (touch wood)
