Default twin cooling fans

are twin cooling fans only fitted to classic models with aircon? only 1 of mine ever seems to come in so i was going to take the other out as my car has got no aircon.

The car uses both fans, sounds like a faulty fan to me bud.

I know plenty of people that only run 1 fan aswell so personal preference really.

Hi,

I have just purchased the 5 blade fan on the drivers side as im about to fit air con to my 95 MY McRae.

So that is the one i would remove if you dont have air con in yours.

Thanks,
Richard.

check the fuses in the engine bay as it could be something as simple as that

Both my fans on my old 1996 used to come on at once and my air con was stripped out.

So i have every reason to believe that both fans are controlled by the ECU and off the coolant sensor.

Bare in mind that each fan has its own connection therefore i suggest that the circuit and voltage output is tested on the non working fan connector.

Genrally single fan = No air con Twin = Air con.

If your car has two fans, but fitted with no air con from the factory, you will probably find the Sub fan Fuse/Relay is not fitted to the fuse box in the engine bay.

Imo two fans are better than one.

I have a similar problem.

2 fans, but only one comes on (passenger side).

I thought the drivers side fan was for the air con only and the reason mine isn't working is due to a fault somewhere with my air con...

Are you suggesting that the two fans shyould work in time with each other?

I have had my fans wired to come on together, the fan with 5 blades is the aircon fan iirc

Might try this and remove the air con...

I assume it is a pretty easy job?

If you have a classic, you can connect your diagnostic connectors under the dash for ECU and it will run test mode and fans will become active

Im in the same boat, I have a MY98 amd it has only one fan on the passenger side, I have no air-con.................

Must be a good thing though as the coolant in the rad must be doing ok? Temp gauge never goes above halfway!

Im looking to get a new fan soon as the OE one is looking tired and rusty, and fitting my new front mount friday so might as well seen as though im there anyway!
