Default Weird noise from front wheels??

When turning it s almost like a scratching/clicking sound every rotation of the wheels.I ve jacked it up and tried spinning the wheels from every possible angle and nothing, can t see anything catching etc
Also it only seems to do it after you ve been driving for a while and no noise at all when you first move off,so i was thinking something with the brakes as maybe expanding under heat and touching on something?
They are Brembo s on the front, when i jacked it up i sprayed every joint with WD40-it just drives me mad when i don t know what the problem is
Any ideas to look at when i remove the wheels tomorrow?

The front pads seem to have plenty of life in them otherwise it would fit the problem perfectly?
I might remove the pads and take a look anyway!

The inner pads wear quicker than the outers, but aren't easy to check without the wheel off.

Hi there. Sounds like it could be a wheel bearing. I've replaced loads of em on them!! Sometimes you can jack the car up and spin the wheels and hear the graunching noise & sometimes you cant. (its very annoying). Its not a bad job to do but you will need a press!!. Cheers mate.

Had the wheels off and had a look and all seems ok,blasted every joint with WD40 and checked for stuck stones etc, seemed quiet when i took it for a drive?Maybe a stone that s now fell out?I ll have to just keep an eye out for the min and see if the problem persists.
Thanks for the replys

Stone/debris trapped between disc and pad?? I had this recently and was convinced it was a wheel bearing or driveshaft problem - fortunately it wasn't. Look for slight scoring on the disc

I had exactly the same problem on my STI Type R, it was a broken wheel bearing.

Had a similar noise ages ago, turned out to be the wheel weights were stick too close to the brake caliper, so clipping it each time it went round.

A simple fix, but worth looking yourself just to check.

Took it down a garage earlier and they think it s brake related-but can t find what!
Checked bearings etc and they are ok-slight play in the ball joint but he said it s nothing to worry about or anything that should be causing that noise.
Another possibility is the heat shield catching somewhere?
By the way the cars had the Brembo front caliper conversion whether that helps solving the problem?

Just been looking again and i ve noticed the the heat shields on the front are different sizes?surely they should be the same size? The one on the wheel where the noise is coming from is quite a bit larger and closer to the disk-so could be something to look at!Would it be safe to take the heat shield off to see if the noise stops for a while?

Indeed. If you've had bigger brakes put on the car I'd say this is the most likely candidate.

It doesn t seem to be brake related after trying various things! The noise has got louder and is making grinding sounds so i took it to my local mechanic who is pretty sure it s the wheel bearing and is hoping to do it for me,so fingers crossed thats the problem and this should resolve it!

It s now all fixed, the problem was that where the drive shaft connects to the hub it had been wearing down and caused the hub to be slightly offset, and then when you turned it was pushing the disk against the pads? This is how the mechanic explained it to me,he thinks it was caused by the previous wheel bearing not being fitted correctly and causing the wear.In the end i had to have a new wheel bearing and i got a complete hub from a scrapyard and it s all fine now - thank god
