Default What else will i need to run 350bhp?

Bought a 53 plate sti a few months back, standard about 260 i think. It was ok but quite laggy off the mark, like a bit of a flat spot. Fitted Firestorm headers, decat up pipe, decat downpipe and de cat centre section and it seems to have cured this problem no end. Car seems rapid with virtually no lag, 3rd gear now feels like 2nd. Im guessing its running about 280/290 ish but with engine management light on.

Fitted a panel filter and got a walboro 255 to go on.

Do i need to fit anything else ie fpr before i get it mapped to get to a safe 350bhp.
cheers

It's only cat efficiency due to lack of cats.... fine to drive so long as your aren't getting any issues with boost, but you are wasting all that fuel, it "SHOULD" be making 340 ish. Mine did with a catted TSL system.

HTH

I have similar mods (and more) as Tezzler on my version 3 STI but have not had a remap (not because i dont want to but because the facility is not available to me here in Kenya) but my car seems to be running fine (touch wood) - no check engine light, smooth idle, no piston slap etc. Car runs on Shell V-Power and octane booster and i get regular maintenance checks and servicing. And i do give the car some stick every now and then.
I have the following engine mods only:
Full s/s 3" decat (turbo back)
S/S headers and up-pipe
FPR and Walbro fuel pump
VF28
Inlet manifold spacers
Lightweight pulleys and flywheel
Zero Sports induction filter
All silicone hoses (intercooler, turbo, radiator)
Recirc Forge DV

Although i know my car would run better with a remap bringing all the mods together to an optimum operational level, it still drives very well. It had an engine knock a year ago but that was BEFORE the mods - probably due anyway as the car had done 145,000 km by then. Have had to change my MAF once after the rebuild but that was before i had the induction filter fitted.

So dont you reckon a remap is not totally NECESSARY but ADVISABLE so as to get the optimum output/driveability for these kind of mods? Wouldnt a remap be NECESSARY for stuff like bigger injectors and modified internals etc?? Just a query guys - i'm no expert. Only stating my experiences.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Imran

if you put bigger injectors on the car will need a remap for sure and it probably want even start, you can have the engine rebuilt with out a remap but it nice to be able to turn the boost down for the running in period

reset alone won't help, as soon as you cruise down the motorway it will come back on.

53 plate STi already has big enough injectors to get to 350 bhp but 350 bhp is actually a tall order unless you systematically look at the constrictions.
You need a full decat free flowing exhaust. Walbro fuel pump. No need for an FPR but consider ported headers and matched uppipe along with a K+N panel filter or a new OE Subaru panel filter. New fuel filter and a remap. Subject to the condition of the engine and turbo that will take you somewhere close to your objective depending on boost but of course this is subject to what rolling road you use to get your figures.
