420 is safe. A few people have gone higher and it's lasted, but no where near 500!!

By forging it will offer you a peace of mind. After all if it goes terribly wrong in the current form the engine will probably worth nothing, but at the mo as your ahead getting it forged will sort things out.

I rather go:

Cp or wiesco pistons
Manley, Pauter, RCM or Laterals custom made crower rods
ACL race bearings
ARP bolts

there is some running around the 500 mark on standered internals but its a toss up of how long it will last at that power.for piece of mind i would go with a forged build then its there for further mods.

At that power there is no such thing as piece of mind ....everyone said you could not run 400 on a standard my04 wrx but i have been doing that for over a year.

The car tolerated another good hammering at japfest yesterday without fault (other than serious brake fade on the standard brembo's) will put video's up soon, if anybody needs reassurance of what these engine's can take if tuned well.
