Default missfire wrx '93

my wrx '93 import has a unsteady tickover and what feels like a miss fire at around 2500rpm when driving.

when i connected the black diognostic plug under the dash it came back with code 23 for a temp sensor.i changed the sensor and the problem is still there.

any other ideas?
thanks,matt

did you reset the ecu after changing the sensor?
I would be surprised if it's that particular sensor causing a misfire though.

yep, reset ecu. sensor was buggered but i agree with you i dont think it was the sensor that would cause the trouble

if it was the air flow sensor or lambda sensor would that show up as a fault code?

Problem with the CEL is that it seems to normally only detect a completely knackered sensor rather than one going wrong.
MAF test is normally unplug it when running and it should stall or test the voltage.

I was under the impression code 23 was MAF malfunction which would explain the misfire, although perhaps not on imports ?!

Oh dear i think matt must have misread it and bought a new sensor for no reason.
tj the codes are the same for imports and UK and yes the MAFcan cause misfire problems.
