Default 93 wrx ecu ?

just a quick question,

i no not a lot of people recommend them but the ecu upgrade chips on ebay are only for sale for 94 on and the bloke says they dont make one for the 93 , i thought the ecu's were interchangable within reason i.e 93-94-95 is this not right !

someone put me right.

cheers

Get a Polar Performance one. These are the best - and safest! - generic chips and ARE designed to run in all early pre-MY97 (pre-Sep-96) ECUs.

Well the bloke doesn't know what he's talking about then.
The early wrx ecus are perfectly interchangeable.
The chips when fitted have to have the J1 resistor cut to allow the chip to run the fuelling and boost, whilst retaining the OE diagnostics

right 92-96 wrxs are the same basically (ecu mapping slightly different but same tubo ,same engine, same injectors etc) he may not say avaliable pre 94 as he is going on when the impreza was launched in 1994 over here but in Japan were launched in 1992

Perhaps putting a link to the ebay item may help

http://vi.ebaydesc.co.uk/ws/eBayISAP...&t=0&ds=0&js=-

plus heres a few messages sent

I see you have a 1993 model, this chip is only for 94-96 versions (we do say this in the listing)

This won't work for you (trust me on this, many have tried and it always ends in tears!)

We don't have any chips for the 93 model, if we did we'd list them! ;-)

i love these adverts when they say Stage 1,2,3 tuning wtf does that mean.
360bhp at 1.1 bar my mate is running a simtek at 1.3bar mapped by JGM and 'only' hits 341bhp

I still don't see why it won't fit the earliest of cars, tbh if you do go for a generic chip go for the one already mentioned but you would be better off getting a remappable solution.

this bloke doesnt know what hes dealing with if he says they wont 93 cars.

"On some import models, If your really unlucky, you may need the socket which comes with the chip and it will take you a little longer to fit. Have a look at your current setup, if you have an empty socket for a chip to sit in, you're good to go!"

none of the imports come with a chip holder!

"If you have a higher state of tune this is good for up to and over 360BHP!!!"

???WTF! yeah right.

WTF is stage 3 tune?

Avoid if i were you and get a polar chip from scott t, tried and tested for many many years from someone who knows a lot.
