Question STI V4 & Power FC - target values for mapper

Installed an STI V4 engine in my MY98 wagon last week. Plug & play.
VF29 turbo, 550 cc injectors, stock airbox, usual exhaust mods, Harvey ported manifolds. Stock TMIC, but working on a STI8 TMIC conversion.

Now need to have it mapped. Need some information for the mappers in Norway, as they're not used to this car & engine combination

I've searched Scoobynet and 22B, and so far I've come up with the following:

Max boost 1,2 bar.
Fuel is 98 RON (with octane booster for additional safety on track days)
O2 feedback off

AFR 14,7 at idle and cruise
AFR 13,2 at 0 bar
AFR 11,8 at 1 bar
AFR 11,2 at 1.2 bar
AFR above 7000 rpm - drop off to 10.5?

IGN 47 at idle and cruise
IGN 40 at 0 bar
IGN 22 at 1.2 bar
IGN above 7000 rpm?

PFC knock warn: 20

Main use is track days, so need a safe map.

Any input highly appreciated!

scale the injectors as the basemap is setup for 440`s

take out a dollop of ignition advance (stock map is agressive as hell)
and then get somebody to map it on the road or a dyno

nobody will tend to give you the ignition values or anything like that because all cars are different, and some peoples mortgages depend on it

i have a map that was taken from a stock 22b saved on my laptop, it was supposedly done by one of the pro`s, although i suspect it was not as the majority of the thing is the stock basemap

Don't know what you mean Micky...like a "pro" mapper would leave important tables standard... lesson learned here!

its was one of the TTS lads ecu as well

his car was booked into a local specialist for work and one of the top mappers was supposed to be weaving his magic while the car was out his possession, he was happy with the car, and was unaware of what was inside

it was a bit of a shock to me when i put the thing in my car to take the map off and compare it with the stock basemap (when i was learning, i wanted to see what kinda values were being changed)

the vast majority, was simply the stock v3-v4 basemap (ie the one for 2.0 litre cars ???) running on his 2.2

i do recall him saying once that it was quite a thirsty thing, and the stock basemap has some crazy fueling if i remember rightly

when i sent the ecu off to another mapper, who kindly offered to put a basic 2.5 map on for me to tweak, he commentated that the map that was already on it, was sketchy and he could tell that it was not done by some of the "top chaps"

that says it all!

D*mn, now I'm behind you again!
I don't know why you would stop at 1,2 bar, That is bacially OE STi pressure.

A tip for when you make your STi8 IC conversion: Move the inlet-temp sensor from airbox (ish) to outlet side of the IC (modding required!), this way you can use it for ignition advance control.

Thanks for your input. The values above were intented as a "baseline" for the mapper. What concerns me most is the map for 7000-8200 rpm. One of the main reasons for an STI4 engine was the increased rev range - I'd like to utilize that on the track without the engine going bang.

Had to change gear at 6000 rpm with the old engine, not very effective with a JDM 6MT gearbox. Aiming for ~7500 rpm gear change with the new engine.

1.3 max then? -I know it can run higher pressure mid range, but no electronic boost controller gadget yet.

On my MY98 euro GT I'm running 1.4 (trying to) trailing to 1.25 bar @ 6500rpm.
But with a 6MT 'box and STi engine I don't see why you couldn't run 1.4 (or even higher?) all the way to redline.

sorry i cant help with the 7k to 8.2k rpm range

when i mapped my own 2.5 conversion, i set the rpm limit at 6.5k and never went past that point lol

take out a lot of timing, sort the fueling, and then start adding the timing back in a little at a time until it starts to det, then take some back out as a safety margin....

took me ages, but it was all new to me so i took my time and did a hell of a lot of logging
