Default weird idle prob?????????????????????????

my99 rb5 - idles fine normally.. but when im doing any speed above 30mph and i come to slow down/stop at some lights the car wants to die as the revs come down...

if i slow down slowly and maybe go thru the gears rite upto 1st it will stay fine...

only dies when i come to fairly sharpish stop..

any ideas why??????

its most definalty your engine temp sensor - costs £10 new, depending on what version scooby you have there abit fidly to fit. i did mine in the dark with my phone as a torch lol so its not that hard!

i had exactly this problem, replced sensors etc, problem still there so i replaced the spark plugs as they were due anyway ensuring they were all gapped to 0.7mm and hey presto problem fixed!

well idle is odd...

from a cold start its fine, for few mins... then i just wont idle from the wind down....

after its a 15mins of driving it got better but still not great...

if i let it wind down it will stall so i start it again and it WILL idle but @ 500rpm (main issue is when its on the wind down ie coming up to some red t/lights)...

to make this even more of a weird experience... ive had my speedo sensor snapped off a while ago when g/box was replaced...the ecu went into safety mode and had a limiter @ 4.5k and "eng check" light was on...

yesterday tried fitting a new sensor and it worked for a bit (reset the ecu etc) but then speedo went out but no "eng check" light on YET....

issue is that while i was driving in the safety mode the idle was fine, its only since we fitted the speedo sensor this prob has occurred??

spark plugs were only changed last year..

bit of an essay but hope it makes sense..
