Default Panel Filters: Green/Green Grp N/Cosworth

Guys looking to buy a panel filter for my blob eye sti ppp, now my immediate choice is the Blue group N from TSL, but its quite a bit dearer than the "normal" green (green) filter.

Iv also seen Cosworth do one.
Does anyone know where does the Blue Grp N filter cheaper?

Which one for best gains (and also decent turbo spooling noises )

Any aftermarket cotton gauze type filter will give a bit more noise than the OE paper item. There's virtually nothing to gain performance-wise as proven by both Scoobymag and our very own Harvey on rolling road comp[arisons. The only real justification for having one over the OE paper item is if it is a lifetime item instead of serviceable, purely to save a bit of cash in the long run. General advice, buy the cheapest reputable brand, ie: K&N or Green.

Calling it 'Group N' making you think it's what rally teams use, which it might be, but what benefit you'd get on a road car is negligible to nothing. In my experience, the fastest road Scoobs have awesome suspension, chassis and geometry products and mediocre power (300-360).

yea but if there is more power to be had out of it due to easier flow it could be worth it.

Nah, proven time and time again, panels vary from 0-2% MAX !!! Also, there's no benefit to be had from an induction kit until over 380bhp, and possibly running a MAF-less ECU and/or front-mount. If you want a faster car, stick a Whiteline rear ARB (24mm) and some solid drop-links on and get your geo set-up done by a pro. Then consider more handling products. Air filters will never get you much, no matter what Max Power, Fast Car and all the teenagers at McD's tell you otherwise. Tuning places will sell you them and make many unsubstantiated claims, much the same as they will sell you a VTA dump valve which will give you sweet FA power increase and possibly screw up your cars running and reliability, because they are business's out to make money, and you have money and a willingness to buy.

I bought the TSL/Green hybrid filter the other day, as far as the bumf goes I think it's an exclusive project between TSL and Green - but could be put right ???

Just buy whichever one takes your fancy. If it's more than £45 then you're paying for nothing extra except some Snake Oil sales bumpf.
