Question prova ecu help please

Help please

I am in possession of a prova eifel ecu for my 1997 scooby (3 plug)

i remember reading something somewhere about the alarm/imoblizer with jap

import ecu not working.

My problem is that when i plug in the new ecu my doors open on my car with

the fob (sigma), but the car refuses to start, i think its something to do with

the immobilizer. (cant hear the fuel pump prime)

Do i have to disable the immobilizer somehow?

If so could somebody show me how please?

Also will disabling the immobilizer

stop me from gaining entry to my car using the alarm fob as it is keyless entry,

or does the alarm continue to work just not the imoblizer.

Any help much appreciated please.

hi mate yea you could get the immobilizer chip in the ecu removed Im having same problem with same spec year scoob.
I spent ages to find someone to do it and best price is £195 from Antony at secure wise. **01633868123**

To my knowledge the alarm and central locking should still work. it just bypasses immobilizer. Rally lads down my way do it. Hope this helps.

Im going for an Apexi fc now instead. LOL

You will need to swap the cam and crank sensor wiring around to get a uk car to run on a jap ecu

Thanks for replying scubbay is there a guide on how to do this anywhere?

I thought my problem would be quite a common one, but guess not looking

around the forums. Havent seen an answer anywhere yet so here is my only

hope of ever getting it working

just abit pissed because i thought it would just be a straight forward changeover.

You will need to swap the cam and crank sensor wires (B136 pin 8 and pin 10, red and white wires) and also move the fuel pump relay wire from B137 pin 17 to pin 7 (IIRC green wire).

However - these ECUs are designed for Jap spec cars and fuel, running one on a UK engine and fuel could be disasterous!
