Default ecu....?

hey i jus bought my first scooby wrx sti 98 and recently the check engine light as came on!! lol bt i did a bit of reading and found out how to do a dionostics check taking the green ones out and putting the black in.. how ever upon removing the metal panal in the footwell and finding the e.c.u i got stuck on what to do next as all i can c is wires going in and none are green or black ??? sorry for sounding like a wee lassie lol bt im in need of guidence

The green and black test wires you need are under the drivers dash, not in the passenger footwell. Read here (ya wee lassie)

So the next question is, is it a faulty 'knock sensor' or is it detecting 'knock???

Default knock senser

well the check engine light comes on and stays on wen warm however it has an tendency to go off an on wen it feels like it lol

As far as i can understand it is the sensor at fault, from what i have read there is no ECU code for 'actual knock', hence the use of det cans i suppose

Plenty on ebay, but what the quality is like i have no idea. All the lambda's i had off there where $h1t

Perhaps someone can advise
