I recently bought a 98 Impreza turbo. However, I've encountered a problem when the car is driven around right hand corners at speed.

There is a strange whirring noise occurs from the engine. At first I thought it may have been a wheel bearing but the noise freqency increases when I dip the clutch and rev the engine, so it must be engine related.

The noise only occurs when going around right hand bends, e.g. on a roundabout. It sounds like something is moving across and rubbing against a part of the body. However, on inspection I can't see anything.

Any ideas as this is driving me crazy?!

hi just a thought engine mounts??
Or cam covers?? (could be a lil loose)

Is it oil pressure related - do you have an oil pressure gauge?

I've checked the engine mounts and cam cover and both are secure.

I dont have an oil pressure guage but may invest in one - just seems strange that its only on right hand bends.

My only other thought is that it may have something to do with the power steering? The power steering pump was replced prior to me buying the car.
