ECU Reset issues
Guys,
Help me please.
My car is a UK MY05 STI.
Remapped over a year ago by Andy Forrest.
I've noticed the following thing since - maybe just coincidence?
If the ECU is reset (I've had 2 flat batteries) my car runs like a complete dog for a while.
It won't even tick over - just stalls?
If I take it for a drive for a while its then OK again, ticks over normally
Why is this?
Thanks,
Shaun

Weird, not convinced it's the map then. After an ECU reset the idle can sometimes be a bit lumpier than usual as the fuel trims are being relearnt, not to the point where it will stall though.
So this only happens after a reset, not when it's stone cold?

No, only after a reset.
Not really a big problem (I hope!), and especially not now since I put a new battery in yesterday.
Both times after flat battery, dodgy idle after its warmed up and then stalling.
When dricing at the start you pull up to a junction and it'll stall etc.
I just drove it about for a while until it stopped stalling.
Drove it today, and its still idle's properly.
Weird eh?

Really smart ecu, learns from scratch after a flat battery. The engine map is stored in a memory chip, but the learning process alters another section of semi-permanent memory that is wiped after a prolonged battery dis-connection. Having lost the "corrections", the ecu has to learn it all again.

P.S. I may be slightly out, but the basic description is sound.
