Boost with sports cat exhaust
Hi,
I fitted a sports cat system to my 2003 sti.
The boost comes in earlier at 2k and by 3k is 0.5bar, when I get to about 4.5-5k is climbs quickly upto 0.9 bar.
Is this ok to be running upto 0.9bar without a remap?
Cheers Chris

Ok yeah 14.5 psi to the bar.
Mine maybe is making 17, the boost gauge could be out and seen as its only a tims i wouldn't expect anything less.
I know with the standard exhaust it was 0.5 bar maybe a tiny bit more, it was in for the service and they said it was fine.

If you're only running 0.5 bar, then you have a problem. You need to check your boost gauge, you should be hitting 16-18psi(1.1-1.2bar) I would think, as things stand now.

With the standard exhaust 0.5
sports cat system about 1bar but thats just glancing at it.
The car runs fine and isn't down on power as I run it along side a 270bhp volvo when it was only 0.5bar amd kept pace easy

I big suspect that when I got the car but didn't have a spare to swap it with.
No fault codes and was kepping up with the volvo so didn't worry too much.
I suspect now then that the boost is spiking miles to high!
what gauges would you recommend?

Impreza Gauges, Gauge Pods, Boost Gauges and Packs, Sandwich fitting kits and gauge holders : - Or pay more and get some defi's, make sure you get someone that knows how to plumb it in correctly. Have a check of your existing one first, it might be installed incorrectly.

No the one thats there now seems to be in properly as I took it out to check.
Plumbed into the dv like most say do.
May need to take the plunge to see if it reads right or not.
I can hear the turbo whistle alot now with the exhaust and the dump is louder so it is making more boost.
