Default Max boost on vf35

Hello good people of Scoobynet.

*STi 03 * full decat walbro pannel filter

currently running my VF35 at 1.55Bar of boost , on the odd time under load in 6th gear i see 1.6.

I have an AVC-R fitted and just wanted to know if i could have my boost increased and what is the max the VF35 can produce.

I wont be doing this myself of cource , a little knowledge and all that stuff.

I was thinking about methonol , im just after a bit of a fix untill i can save for a bigger turbo.

thanks in advance.

Methanol needs mapping if used in quantity....

ecu can't cope above 1.5 bar, so (JGM told me) you have to re-map the ecu to work with the AVC-R at boost levels above this.

HTH

P.S. At 2 bar mine absolutely flew...

Hi dunx.

The car has been mapped at the moment and i also have the AVC-R fitted.
I was looking at a new turbo to get up to the 400Bhp area , however a few household improvements and a holliday have used up my scooby fund.

Basicly i'm just after a quick fix until i can save the pennies for a new turbo.

I would effectively be paying for a tweek to my map and have the AVC-R adjusted on the RR to try and squeeze a few extra ponies from it.

Did you manage 2 bar on a VF35 ?

Chris.

Part of the AVC-R kit is its bespoke A'PEXi 3bar MAP sensor (and 3-port BCS). The MAP sensor should have been fitted, so you now have the capabilty to have the AVC-R/turbo mapped to a max of 2bar/29psi...

Good god no ! Like yours mine spiked to 1.6-1.7 bar (indicated by Defi's ), they over read somewhat...

I needed an MD321H to manage 2 bar !
Now restrained to a mere 1.6 bar again.... feels SO slow now

dunx

P.S. Yes, the JGM told me a map tweak and AVC-R set-up are required to go higher. But I need mine to last till 2010 when it's getting a forged re-build. Fingers crossed !

do you think i would be expecting a little much of my VF35 to go beyond 1.6 bar of boost.

as i said im just after a bit of a quick fix until a new turbo is affordable to me.

got my vf35 running 1.55 peak(sometimes 1.6 if cold enough) and was told at a rolling road session i was over working the turbo a bit??? that was 8 months ago and she still pulls 332/303 on v5 2.0 with no probs i think being a ihi turbo mappers cap them around 1.5max but the vf30 onwards are better turbos but still carry the stigma of the earlier vf's

Main reason is that the std. ecu can't measure above 1.5 bar, so mappers push it right to the limit. Mine is restricted in this way, but do I buy an AVC-R and get JGM to fettle it, or go Simtek and be done with it ?

The limit is 1.55bar/22.7psi, you can map the car above that, but I think you lose the over boost fuel cut.

avcr will get you 2 bar map but then the simtek means you can loose the maf so thats a tough one, same boat as me and a few others i think it comes down to £££'s as the avcr and a tweak is the cheaper option

Have you seen the price of them now !

Plus £350 for a re-map session...

Makes Simtek an easy decision.

IMHO

dunx

P.S. Increasing the boost will greatly increase the heat input so det. is more likely, as you are running further from peak efficiency on the compressor wheel/housing combination.
