WOW just had a remap !
Hi
Just got back from Surrey Rolling Road where I had a re map by Jolly Green Monster .If you are thinking of getting this done but are not to sure all I can say is DEFENTLY DO IT.Its the best £600 you will spend on any mod.
My car is a 2006 STI Spec D with H&S Decat and a K&N panel fitter other than that its standard, this is what it achieved.....
335 bhp at 5600 rpm
350 ftlb at 4500 rpm
Boost 1.4 bar at 3500
I was really pleased with the results Simon is very friendly and helpful as was charlie at SRR.
The car just feels as it should not that it was running bad or anything, but it now pulls so hard in every gear.

Cool, a nice safe map you will enjoy that !
Simon is very very good and certianly my best mapping experience to date. I am going for the Ecutek at somepoint over the opensource. Probably like you go decat rather than Sportscat, but will be requesting some over run pops and bangs
Enjoy

There is more to it than just the peak numbers.. on the road it shifts no doubting.

Good aren't they
Not being funny but seems like a very conservative map. I have the same car and very similar mods but got much better figures from a road map with Andy F. I asked him to ensure the map was for best road use and not just peak figures. He said it was well within the safe limits of the car too, obviously as he is very good at what he does.
Does it just differ from car to car and mapper to mapper?
I can't remember exact RPM but my car made 390LbFt at around 4.5k and 390bhp at around about 5.5-6K rpm.

lol @ 390bhp..
funny you should say that.. the dyno read 20hp down yesterday on a car that I mapped their previously but deffo didn't feel 20hp down on the road..
Couple of things - there are two ways imho of mapping on the rollers.. to demonstrate the power output the car can do and then alter it afterwards on the road a fair bit to make it safe... or map it so you have to make minimumal changes to the map on the road when checked after.. the fuelling, boost and ignition are different due to the load.. I used the dyno on this car as a tool to get the car where we wanted it.. had I done a road dyno plot afterwards I think it would be showing more what power it is actually running.. the only comprimise was 1.4bar rather than 1.5bar

glad you are happy with it..
request was at least 320bhp and smooth delivery and safe map.. yes pushed to 1.5bar you can get more from them.. but that wasn't what Gonzo wanted

I must admit I've never had my car on the rollers before, but from what I've heard about most of these places up here in the North East I will probably make that typo 390bhp
I've seen some ridiculously high figures banded around. Here what you are saying though in how they can be a good part of a mappers toolkit. I read a good thread on here once where a few respected mappers on here, yourself included I believe JGM, where the point was made that it's good to get the car where you want it on the rollers and then tweaking this map on the road. Makes sense to me, although don't ask me to actually do it!
Anyway, the OP seems a happy customer and that's a job well done

Hi all
here is some of my thinking of why I wanted a safe conservative map.
1. PPP is around the 320 mark and if its good enough or them its good enough for me.
2.I intend to keep the car for another 4 years and the mileage is now 40000 so I don't want to stress the engine to much.
3. The wife and I use the car as a kids taxi so I don't need something that's going to rip my head off or give the kids whip lash
4. MPG, It was not that good before the remap!
5. We both already have 6 points on our licence
6. The wife is not the best driver in the world so a scoob with 360+ probably not a good idea.
7.my preference really if I want a car with massive BHP I will get a porsche.
I'm not knocking any body regarding this as we are all different, and we want different things from our cars. It would be no fun if we all wanted the same thing.
thanks for reading I know its a bit
Cheers Gonzo

alright greatgonzo my friend glad to hear you are happy, i was only thinking about our first exchange on my ppp and what you were wanting to do the other day.just for the record compared to my ppp ( which was higher than most) your bhp was higher, mine 329. lbtq lower, mine 375. those figures though as i said are really high so considering you have a safe and conserative map you can be assured that he has done a good job. whats next though? lol.

Well next I'm now happy with the performance so I was thinking of doing the stainless steel upper and lower grills (mesh) on the front. I found the supplier to prodrive who produce them. £150
How do you find the suspension ? I like the performance but I find it very crashy over the bumps I just thought it would be able to handle them a bit better

It will be ballistic, JGM managed to get a higher bhp figure from my 2.0 STI, but I only managed 360 ft.lb. of torque, so identical on road performance, imho.
I'm not complaining.... even if my fuel consumption has (finally) taken a slight hit.
