Default 2.1 STROKER ENGINE HELP?

2.1 STROKER ENGINE HELP?

Hi has any one out there cared out the 2.1 stroker kit on an EJ20G closed deck block.
What’s involved on the engineering side of it? I know you have to have the blocks
Machined to take the rear trust bearing EJ25 crankshaft but I have been told
That the rod or pistons touch the block and may be some more machining has
To be carried out. Has anyone got any info and pics out there will be very helpful.
Many thanks.

Having one built by EngineTuner as we speak, the closed deck block must be machined to take a rear thrust type crank (79mm stroke), Ive bought a set of Lateral Crower Rods and custom Wiseco Stroker Pistons (92.5mm), I believe the dimensions of a Stroker piston are different due to the increased stroke, best speak to a pro to confirm this though

Additional machining to the block is needed for some makes of piston and rods - the web between the bottom of the liners needs to be relieved for rod clearance and the bore squirter location points need spot machining to lower the height of the squirter to clear the piston at BDC - you will see what needs to be done when you do your initial dry build.

2050 and an additional 150 to RCM for the block to be machined for rear thrust, a pretty good deal for what your getting IMO

Yes a closed deck block. My price is different as my block had some extra work done and I supplied all the parts, IIRC they charge around £200 for honing the bores and rear thrust conversion, its best to pm martyn or alan jeffery and get a exact quotation..

There are different ways of doing a stoker engine. We favour using a longer rod, and lower compression height piston to accommodate the longer 79mm crank.

This is how we do our big power 2.35lt engines, and we do the same set up for our 2.1lt too.

Merlin has pointed out one area that may need relieving, but there are other areas that may need doing too, depending on the parts used, and the individual block casting, as well as relieving the block to accommodate the extra throw of the crank webs.

Mark.

Would my CDB require the extra relieving, if im using a set of your lateral crower rods and Wiseco stroker pistons?

Probably, but I wouldn't expect the oil squirters to need any relief work.
