Default is this something to worry about

Drive 9 miles to and 9miles home again each day,
gently motorway cruising, 70ish - minimal traffic

The fan has been running the last 4 days when I come to turn off, the temp guage is bang on the middle as normal - has a sensor worn out or do I potentially have a bigger problem do you think?

Many thanks in advance, car is uk turbo my99 wagon, 111k -

When my water pump went the temperature never went above the middle of the guage. I only knew there was a problem by the fans coming on all the time. If the pump works and water is being pushed round (with no airlocks), have you checked the coolant? If its a bit old and with the outside temps increasing may be enough to trip the fans on?
