hi just brought a slip jointed up pipe (think its a hayward and scott) which the previous owner had used nots and bolts to mount the turbo, anyway brought some subaru studs to find the holes are way to big, is nuts and bolts the only way to mount the turbo? also what is the bore size of the standard oe up pipe? as this one is 51mm, thanks
Fitted my up pipe on sat, nuts and bolts should be fine just think thats all your exhaust is held together with. crap job to do on your own took me 4 hours on my own!!
I removed the heat shield round the up pipe, but still had to bend the heat shield mounting bracket flat on the up pipe to pull it out, as it was in the way, and catching.

sweeeeet...ill have another bash at it 2moro! thanks for the advice mate.. lets hope it will get me somewhere lol!
2.5" up-pipe?????? Good luck spooling your turbo below 4k with that!
I have a H&S up-pipe and I believe they are around 51-52mm the stock uppipe is somewhere around the mid 40s i think.
Sherman, can you tell me did you have to use nuts and bolts to hold the turbo to up pipe? also did you notice any additional lag from fitting the H&S up pipe?? cheers.
I changed the headers, turbo and up pipe all at the same time. If i stick with the same turbo I will be putting the oe uppipe back on or fitting a smaller diameter aftermarket one.
I get one bar @3k rpm in 4th gear (5spd) on a vf35. 2lt, uk heads, ported oe headers.

cheers for that mine must of been drilled out then, why would you be putting the original one back on or opting for a smaller diameter one? reduce lag?
If you have the up-pipe off the car. Put the bolts through the holes facing upwards and tack weld the head of the bolts to the up-pipe. In effect you now have studs. Much easier to tighten up etc.
