Default shabby TMICs...

hiya

i noticed i have quite a few flattened fins on my standard TMIC (randon little clumps and a couple of almost entrie columns). I know it doesn't have to be in perfect condition, but how bashed up can it get before you should really think about replacing it? If anyone has any pics of thier intercoolers in supposedly bad nick i would appreciate it!

regards,
Ash

As above. Take the opportunity to flush out the built up oil with some degreaser whilst its removed.

You can get an assortment of combs of varying pitches (usually designed to straighten a/c condenser/evaporator fins), but the IC has strengthening supports on the cores so it can get right down.

After straightening, always check your IC after picking the car up from a garage after any under-bonnet work is carried out on it. The temptation to use it as a tool tray, even by Subaru Dealers is quite common.

is it gona matter if a few of the bent fins break off, as some of mine are really mangled, and just snapping off
