Question Advice on Ecu & Bhp Please

Hey Guys some help would be very appreciated. I have version 9 jap spec sti and i wanted to know if the motec ecu is any good? and also what power should i set my car to. It has the following bits and bobs.

Stage 2 fuel pump
3" decat turbo back
RCM modified oil pump
cosworth main bearings
cosworth big end bearings
omega forged pistons 50mm
FP red turbo
hyperflow MONSTER intercooler
800 or 850cc injectors
hyperflow top mount oil cooler
hyperflow oil catch can
ap racing clutch double plate (from tech-craft cp4216-2)
cosworth sump
baffle plate.

dont think there's much more. could some one or every one help me to decide what kind of power the car should be comfortable at.

i wouldn't say motech is the best, prob the most expensive of the well known ecu.

Solaris is prob the best, all the features of the motech but twice the proccessing power of the motech unit and half the price.

I find these "XXXX ECU is the best statements" a bit misleading. Everything in context I think.

All depends on what features you want and how good you want the driveability.

I use a Hydra ECU (sold and mapped by EU importer, Tracktive Solutions). It does what it says on the tin and my car is far from standard. As good a driveability as I could ask for, delivers the goods power wise and has all the features I require (multiple fuel maps, boost maps, anti-lag, launch control & flat shifting etc). The mapper is key to this discussion, as it matters not what ECU you choose..... if the mapper is no good you will lose part of the overall benefit.

Motec is the daddy of ecu's but any good ecu and a good mapper will work perfectly for you I would suspect. Depends whether you want to pay £1000 more than needed.

where are you having the car worked on ??? i am still Deciding which ecu to go with. Looked at the simtex but it does not cover drive by wire so that out. i have also been told the standard ecu is good for 500 on a road car so may keep running with that untill i get closer to the 500 mark.

what are you running Dynamix ?

I ran the std ecu to 545bhp - it wasnt easy to map it there and now on a Solaris I should have made the switch earlier as it is much smoother to drive now and far easier to map/control.

Solaris works with the DBW no problems.

I have little knowledge of that turbo, but that is not a fat lot of boost tbh. I have heard that turbo is quite laggy though.
