Default What is going on?? what is that noise??

HI all

I have a Hawkeye 06 plate with 23,000 on the clock and i am concerned that there is something wrong with it, there is a rattle in the back, sounds like the suspension or the exhaust??? also every time i pull away it feels like the back wheels are binding as the back seems..and i mean seems to dip . I am not sure what to do.

Do the Hawkeye's have any probs like these at all??

Thanks all

It's a common fault, I've had both my rear shocks replaced under warranty for doing exactly the same thing.

This problem needs to be made a sticky it is coming up so often.

Had mine replaced 3 times on my 03STI and yet the problem still persists in the 06 cars - Subaru should have sorted it long ago.

I called my local garage and started by saying" there is a noise in the back" i did not get a chance to finish as he then said " O , dont worry , it just the suspension, its a common fault we have seen it loads of times" So mine is going to be booked in so they can have a look then they will order the parts and go from there. I am shocked that this is a persistent problem and there has been nothing done about it? I figure the garage will be ok about it all... I hope there will be no charge what so ever for this, i would be most unhappy if there were.

In my experience if your car is still in warranty then no problem however even if it is just a month or 1K outside the warranty period Subaru will not even offer to help with the cost of the parts.

My beef was that the third time it happened to me the car had 64K on it, but the shocks had only been on the car for 11K and were 9 months old so surely they should have been replaced as being substandard replacement parts in the first place.

Anyway got rid of the car now and have a proper Impreza again

That is shocking, i would have thought if there is an identified problem then they would have helped with the cost , at least a percentage? Its very out of order to be honest. As i said the guy at the Garage told me that he was used to it?? Subaru should do something about it as opposed to just giving new shocks they should uprate them as not perpetuate the problem.
