Noise On Tick over
#1
Just after some help..
Every now and then my car has a noise on but only whilst ticking over.
It sounds like maybe belt or belts moving ie every now and then like a slight knocking noise.
It never does it straight from cold only once engine up to temp after being for a drive.
It seemed to be worse when cold weather. Local dealer suggested taking for a long run as car was only used for short disatnces during week to work and back not even 10 mile round trip.
Anyone any ideas

what my is it cos later ones have guides on the timing belt that are set too close at the factory and after a while it starts to take chunks out of the belt. easy way to see is to take off the n/s timing belt cover 3bolts on early models 4 on later ones and see if there are any gouges or cuts on the belt
