ODBC connection wiring when replacement ecu installed
Hey there,
Has anyone replaced their ecu for aftermarket job and re-wired the ODBC connection in some way so Secs unit still reads sensors? I'm just after revs and boost readings really and wonder if those sensor wires to the ecu can be "patched" into the existing ODBC wiring now that this connector will be redundant with replacement ecu?

Dont know solaris, was just thinking can I wire up the existing sensor wires heading to ecu with the ODBC wires, ie like fitting water injection, just needs a feed from the sensors themselves to work out revs and boost, is the ODBC wiring the same for boost/revs/coolant or is it a completely different type of feed that the secs reads and only from oe ecu? If latter, I'll have just see secs reading oil temp.

It would help to know which ECU you're considering, because that will determine the best solution.
When the SECS Monitor gets data from the OE ECU it will do so using either the SelectMonitor protocol or generic OBD-II, not by piggybacking on the sensor wires themselves. The key, then, is whether it will be possible to get the SECS Monitor and the aftermarket ECU to talk to each other. You will almost certainly need a new wire since none of the after market ECUs I am aware of use the OBD wiring.

Thanks for confirming re wiring ODB2, it will be a simtek but if its going to be complex to get working, I'll just scrap the monitor and wait for simtek to create their own I think.
