Default 5w 30 oil

any views on this oil,ive heard many say dont go near it go 10w40 but thats what it recommends in the handbook...

Depends on what year car you have, its a fully synthetic oil, works fine on MY01 onwards, definately is not recommended for classics and saying that, i would go for a 5w40 oil if you want fully synth or in summer something like motul 15w50 fully synthetic

Hi mate 5w-30 is what my hand book says !!
but I use 5w-40 Mobil 1 its a little bit more money but I think a better oil.
I think I'm right in saying its what Subaru use in the hawk eye model
have you had a look on Opie oils web site??

the service manual says "5W30 is not recommended for sustained high speed driving"

Makes sense.

An SAE30 will be extremely thinned out at high RPM/loads in a hard-working hot turbo engine - just the thought if it freaks me out TBH.

Those poor bearing surfaces...

halfords 10w40 semi every time for me.

Vauxhall 10W40 semi for both my daily driver classics. Oil change every 5000 miles.
