Default Ticking from engine on MY98

hi seems to be a slight ticking from either side of the engine around the cams/injectors area.
got no fault codes and engine oil is full but its Mobil 10/40 semi if thats ok and it does it hot and cold.
just bit worried if its doing damage driving around going to prosport on saturday to see if its normal eg noisey injectors or something a bit worse

but just would like to no if anyone else had the same issue

thanks john

favourites are:
piston slap
oil pick-up issue thingee (mainly with Legacy engines???)
if it dsappears when warm and/or disapears if you switch off and then back on again then it aint an issue

but get someone to check it anyhoo

i wouldnt have thought its too much to worry about. the injectors can get noisey with age as can the lifters. so long as there is oil in it you wont be doing any more damage. my car has started ticking again now that i have just changed the oil. once the oil gets a bit older i bet it will quiten down again. piston slap sonds more like a knock and would go when hot.

Get yourself a long screwdriver & touch it on one of the injectors. Put your ear on the other end of the screwdriver & you will hear them ticking very loud. I'm sure that's all it is as I traced my ticking down to the injectors.
