Dump-valves

I have a bailey DV12 dump valve, sounds good - whoooooosh!
I have heard many many views that standard re-circ is better than DV, but why does the car feel quicker with the DV?

really? Honestly?
ok I'll bite, its because you spent money on it and your brain doesnt want to admit failure so you "placebo'd" up in your mind so that you can feel happy and content, safe in the knowledge that it was money well spent.
When in reality a chav valve is worse than useless

aahhhh, sorry to the OP as I just looked at the join date and he is a n00bie.
please accept my apology and a more considerate reply.
VTA dump valves are well and truely considered a bad move on a standard car.
Releasing air from the system that has been accounted for means the system isn't running right, the process is failing.
The system uses a MAF or AFM (depending on your preference) to measure the air coming in, it then fires in the amount of fuel its been programmed to do so based on its map.
If air is released from the process without the knowledge of the ECU then the fuel is still there and there is too much of it.
Its running rich.
There will be horror stories about potential borewash etc and these are in the extreme, but usually there are more realistic tales of rough running.
Usually all end with "and I replaced the standard item and its fine".
In short, bad idea mechanically and as for the noise, well you can add "dump valves" to politics and religion

Also, the Bailey i had on my last scoob made the car feel a little jerky, especially on motorways, on off throttle. This could be mistaken for the car feeling 'quicker'
I got rid of it in the end, car was better for it!

i have been told these dump valves do work when set up . they stop back pressure from hitting the throttle valve when closed, on gear change, which in turn doesnt stop the turbo from spinning to a stall.which means quicker turbo spool while changing gear and better response.also improves turbo life.

ok lads i know its a waste of money but what about these uber expensive dump valves for the scooby that do both recirculating and vta and different rpm.. cant rememeber which one is for low and which is for high..
are they any good? granted a waste of money but just on the principle of what it was made for// are they as good as standard?
peanuts whats your take on these? i rememebr seeing a thread on here about them, cant find it now, but they had a good review.. as long as you can live with the cost..
