Default Boost soleniod

Thank you to all for your suggestions on my previous issue with running issues which turned out to be the rotten air filter.

Help, having looked at the thread on cleaning the boost soleniod, my 96 wrx turbo jdm wagon has both the pipes ( A & B on the photos )off the side of it missing, surely this is not right ?

Default re-boost solenoid

Having looked at your last thread and just looked under my bonnet there is two pipes missing from mine, the turbo outlet nipple pipe and the actuator connection !

Surely these should be connected, could it be anything to do with it being a jdm model ?

Ah, you will find either that:
A. The turbo nipple is looped directly to the wastegate actuator, and you will only be boosting to c.0.5 bar, actuator pressure.
or
B. You have a manual Boost Controller fitted, again the pipe will run from the turbo nipple to the wastegate actuator but will have a pressure control/bleed valve fitted inline.

Check and see if youve got something like this.

If not check and see if the wastegate nipple and turbo inlet nipple have a pipe straight to each other.

Come to think of it, you do have a 3 port not a 2 port. As that is plumbed up a little bit different.

This is indeed how mine appears to be ! with the pipe coming from the actuator directly to the compressor outlet with no inline control/bleed valvue .
Will this only be giving 0.5 Bar ? what is the best way forward from here ?

Yes this will give you a max of 0.5 bar as that is the actuator operating pressure. Mine was plumbed up the same when i got it, best thing to do now that you've sussed it is to plumb the system up correctly as per the pic
Boost Solenoid Plumbing
and see what you get then

Thanks again

I believe that the actuator bit on the solenoid is not hollowed out ready to use, like it has never been used ?, should i cut it and then connect pipes as they should be ?

So you are saying that the outlet pipe from the BCS is blocked off
Obviously all inlet/outlets should be clear! Be assured the BCS will have 'been' used but prob been plugged up in the past, wouldn't be cutting anything, remove the BCS and clear out the ports

A reset would not hurt. Free up a little power?? I'd say, if all is in working order then it will almost double your boost
