Default strange noise when I go over 130mph, any ideas?

Hi guys, new on here, joined for a friend who has no web access and has just bought an '04 wrx
Apparently it makes a rather loud whooshing/ whining sort of noise when he goes over 130, any ideas please??!!
( Before anyone else says it, I did tell him to just not go over 129mph!)

my guess is if he keeps that up the only noise he will hear is the plod or his big ends knocking.

Had similar noise out on a track at above 120. Cured by lowering and raising the passenger window. (rubber seals then seated properly)

I normally turn the radio up louder to drown it out. Could be something straight forward. The windscreen wipers or aerial at these speeds.

if your holding 130 for any length of time its probably your intercooler begging for air

had a similar noise with my 03 wrx at just under 130 on the long straight at bedford autodrome. Pretty sure it was the wind at that speed on something like the wing mirrors.

It seemed to do it consistently on that straight but not on the lower speed straights, say at about 100, with the noise slowly building at the top speed. I assumed that it was nothing bad!

On a more serious note there is the same problem on the Bugeye and it's all to do with the front grill. At that speed and some times lower, if you're going into a head/cross wind, the air gets between the grill and front body line and starts to oscillate which creates the noise, it some times mimics a horn. But it doesn't happen on all newage which would imply that it's a fitment problem.
Check that the grill is fitted properly and tight into the plastic retaining clips.
Not a lot you can do to stop it other than change the front of your car.
On the up side it goes away after 150mph.

I was told it was a few things, most likely the wing mirrors, first time I heard it I shat myself, as you could be mistaken for thinking it was a siren.

Yes it also goes away after 150ish.

PSML at the lowering and raising windows at 130MPH +
