Newbie needing help!
Hi guys,
I've got a '97 WRX wagon totally standard engine wise apart from Iridium plugs, the problem is it missfires a fair bit, doesn't matter if the engine is cold or hot, it's ok in wet weather it seems to be worse when the weather is cold, i lose power and sometimes throws you forward in your seat, i know cars generally run better on cold dense air but mine seems to hate it, also i've been told black smoke comes out when it missfires.
I've had the plugs gapped and new leads, i swapped the coil pack for a STI one out of the breakers and no change, the place where i bought it said it shows no errors on diagnostic but they seem to not really give a ****. they had the car for a week just to change the leads.
So after all that, i recon its the MAF, i cleaned the little wire with elec. cleaner to no effect, i read about people talking about MAF's and saying about the colour of the label can anyone tell me wot the different labels mean, mine is blue label. I'm new to the Scooby so any advice would be cool.
Cheers, Gary.

Welcome
Its pretty simple, if you cannot fix it, get a professional to do it for you, its either that or you end up with a BIG bill on your hands, there are no cheap or short cuts to running a scoob, it will cost you money, and small things have a tendancy to get bigger quickly.
A speciallist or dealer will find the problem alot quicker than you will if you are not a mechanical genius
Oh and i really hope you are running super unleaded, it can be that simple!

The thing is the place i bought it from have had it back 4 times and still ain't found the problem, i get the impression they aren't bothered, thats why i'm doing my own research, i've got no probs fixing it myself.
