Default Twin Scroll upgrade.......

I have a MY03 STi and have purchased nearly all the parts for my VF37 twin scroll upgrade. However I have a coupe of questions which I cant find a definitive answer for and im hopng you can help.

1) Do I definately require a new dip stick and dip stick holder tube?
2) Are the brackets for the turbo the same as the current one (VF35 I think)?

I think thats it for now but if you peeps have any other tips they would be much appreceiated.

Im booked in with with master Bob Rawle on the 21st March and cant wait!!

IIRC - the dipstick and tube should be changed to suit the twin scroll sump as the position of the dipstick markings (high/low) is different.
Twin scroll turbo bracket is horseshoe shaped and different to the VF type.
You prob have the twin scroll sump, windage tray, oil pick-up pipe,headers,up-pipe and downpipe sorted to go with the turbo.

Thanks for the reply.

Does anyone know the part numbers for the dip stick and tube as my local subaru dealer wont order any parts without the correct numbers or a chassis number!!

Also I have everything on that list except the windage tray what is this?

Thanks for the part numbers.

Is the windage tray an essential piece to the puzzle or can I re use my original one?

The windage tray is essentialy a splash guard that is bolted on below the crankshaft and as far as i'm aware they are the same, but somene on here who has carried out the mod would know for sure.

I have tried the search function but its been not been working most of the weekend!

Does anyone have the part number of the VF37 Turbo support bracket?

Also has anyone done a write up on this swap as I cannot find one anywhere?

Sorry for all the questions!

Very interesting thread for me as well, as I'm going to put twin scroll into my v5 STi...

Any idea how much dipstick and it's tube cost at a Subaru dealer?

And I hope they can also sell that turbo bracket and it will not cost a fortune? I would be also happy if someone could tell us the part number, please.

BTW - how much oil take the engine with twin scroll oil sump - if the same amount, maybe it's enough to make your own markings on the current oil dipstick?

cheers

TBH its not a great idea going for a twin scroll engine when you have a perfectly good one in there already, probably cheaper if you just upgrade your internals to run better power
Apart from having to replace half your engine to run a twin scroll turbo (or drop a twin scroll engine in) the benefits are low for the cost your doing it for.
(even though i prefer a twin scroll car, its not a modification i would carry out on a single scroll unit, you miss out on parts like the nitrated and grooved crank for one, which is standard in the twin scroll unit).

Actually I already have v9 sti crank fitted (last rebuild ) and as far as I remember it's the grooved and nitrated one - so no problem

I actually also have most of the stuff - beside the mentioned items.

What I expect for is simply as quick spool up as possible (I hope that lack of avcs will not be that huge difference) and a reasonable power/torque figures as well...

Of course it might not be the easiest way, but if this can make a quick car... why not to try?

Lack of avcs wont help though it wont make the car quicker, just different in the way the power is delivered, but the avcs helps with the low down power, so not sure if its going to be of any real benefit to you....

We'll see - I think it will not anyway be any worse than standard vf30/34 - and I believe Bob Rawle can make this setup quick

BTW - I'm not sure if I'm not asking for too much - but could anyone give us at least an example of vin/chassis number of twin-scroll equipped car (newage JDM STI or STI Spec-C) which number I/we could use in Subaru service to find the right turbo bracket?
Might be in PM - would be really useful.

cheers
