Default Power gains

What sort of power gains would be expected on a 1995 WRX when fitting a HKS manifold with up pipe. 3”down pipe, straight through decat HKS exhaust . Denso spark plugs, Apexi induction kit, walbro fuel pump and Apexi Power Fc.

As ive just had all these fitted and was gutted at the lack of power gains it made.

Well it all boils down to whoever mapped your Power FC and what he/she thought was best.

what was your power before and after?

Here is the thing.

I had a power run done with one company after getting the induction kit, manifold and exhaust fitted.
It came out at 278 BHP & 272 LBS/FT Peak Torque.

Then I had another company fit the Power FC fuel pump and plugs.
The before figure from them was 235 BHP 213 LBS/FT Peak Torque. A lot different from the other power run.

And after they had fitted and mapped everything it came out as.
281 BHP 241 LBS/FT Peak Torque.

I no each rolling road is slightly different but this seems to far out.
They said that they had mapped it for my car but the Power FC also come with a base map. And im thinking this might be what’s still on it.

Bearing in mind my WRX has 46k of genuine miles and full Subaru service history. So it cant have lost much of the original BHP

Yeah it felt quicker. But what’s with the BHP figures. Another tuning company said they would expect 300Bhp + with the mods.

Why was one power run 278bhp before the remap.
Then the people who did it came back with 235bhp before then 281bhp after. Just don’t seem right or make sense.

Take it to the 1st company for another power run and see what you get.

You could get 300bhp but the tmic will be holding you back for that figure.

Give someone like www.jollygreenmonster.co.uk a call/pm and see what he thinks (he's a highly respected mapper)

i would ignore the first power run figure as over optimistic rolling road.

could be your setup would make 300bhp but i would guess its mapped to be safe as poss too, maybe worth visiting another mapper at some point though if you are not happy.

I have had some problems since they fitted it all and they have had the car back about 6 times. A couple of people on here didn’t recommend the company that did it so I will defo try get it mapped again. Where would be best for me to go. I live in Reading. Power Engineering said they wont touch it with a Power FC.

Thumbs up power gains

1995 wrx, turbo back magnex exhaust, avo tmic, megan headers, scoobyecu chip, walbro pump,= 303bhp/325lbs,would surely think should be over the 300mark even with a tmic

I thought it should be. Do you think the base map might still be on it and they have just said they mapped it.

Id like to think not.

It was just something someone said they might have done.

I did blag them into letting me have the Power for the Ebay price of Ł500 which they didn’t really want to do. But then the didn’t have to.

Although it would be nice for you to mention their names the legal implications may be bad for scoobynet.
Speak to Jolly see what he can do for you (it will cost you unfortunately) but i don't think anyone who has dealt with him has ever had a bad word against him

I’m defo going to get Jolly to have a look at the map.
And I wont mention any names on Scooby net.
The figures were Engine output. The wheel output was a lame 193BBHP after mapping it.
My boost gauge says im running 1.6 Bar. My brother has a 1993 RX7 with only a Power Fc and FMIC and leaves me for dead at any speed and any gear.

tbh Chris whoever mapped it ,imo, didn't do a good job as my car with a standard Subaru ecu produced that (93wrx with a z4 ecu)

1.6bar methinks that may be slightly incorrect for your alleged power output

This really doesn't add up..........according to these figures they reckon that you get around 31% transmission losses????????

If that what your boost gauge ways what does the commander on the PFC say?
Looks like you have a right to be dissapointed with your "gains".

A lot of money for not a lot of power.
My boost gauge says 1.5Bar not 1.6. Sorry.
I’m going to go out later and get a mate to tell me what boost the PFC says as this should be a spot on reading.
Though the rolling road figures were a bit odd myself.
I’m glad you agree I should be disappointed. To top it all off I lost my job and now cant really afford to get it re mapped. DAMN you credit crunch

Right so the PFC says 1.23mmhg which is 1.2bar i think.

So the gauge lies lol. Well thats what i get for buying them on the cheap. Just found them a lovely home with some burnt toast in the bottom of my bin.
