HEADS FOR V.1/2 EJ20G ENGINE ???
As I speak (hopefully) Olly of RCM is preparing a quote for me to have my HG replaced.
I suppose there's an outside chance of my actual head/s' block mating face/s being warped beyond skimming spec, so I was wondering if there are any worthwhile head upgrade for the v.1/2 EJ20G engine?
Are there any better heads that would retain the original v.1/2 inlet manifold etc - can't be bothered to change a multitude of parts over, though.
If there aren't any upgrades as such, then where could I source a set of decent OEM replacements from e.g. any specialists on here, etc.? (Don't fancy the minefield that is eBay for Impreza engine parts ...)
JGM, I expect you'll probably be able to help me here?

eerrrmmm.. lol I have a set of standard WRX heads.. v1/2 a okay but would need a good clean but v cheap.
I have a set of sti3 heads which are ported and polished to a high stadnard but need valves.. one failed so I don't trust the lot of them as it appears to be a manufacturing fault.. so would go well with supertech valves etc..
Although someone else has first refusal on them.. but they aren't cheap.

Sorry Simon, I didn't mean to put you 'under the gun' LOL - I meant to say 'suspect' instead of 'expect' (if that's any consolation ).
Ignore my PM to you - didn't see that you had replied to this thread prior to sending it.
Are those v.1 WRX heads perfectly fine to use, then? Will they need a 'proper' skim, or just a very light sanding? How much? (PM if you wish)...
Cheers
John
P.S. If heads are skimmed and a std 1.6mm gasket is used (for v.1-4), what's the CR reduced to? Or are slightly oversized HGs used to maintain the CR? If so, where do you get 'em from?
