Default Which fuel?

Sorry if this has been asked before. I own a standard MY2000 UK 2000 turbo and have allways used super unleaded what with it being a performance car and supposedly better for perfomance as well. It also says to do so on the inside of the petrol cap. I've heard and seen people running these on normal octaine fuel. Is it ok to do this? Cheers for any advise

You can run a standard uk car on unleaded fuel (not STI's) as the minimum but they do run better on super

What you save at the til, you will lose before your next fill up as 95RON will give you less MPG. In the case of my 00MY UK Turbo, around 40 miles less per tank around town

Run both my unmodified UK MY97 on 95ron (as allowed in the manual) for the last 3 years. Tried super unleaded on several occasions, over several tanks and the only difference I noticed was the bigger bill at the pumps.

The only time I noticed any difference was when I owned a highly modded UK MY96. It def ran better on super. Also my wifes 53 plate Blobeye ran better on super, but that needed every bit of help to give the remotest hint of performance.

The choice is yours, either way 95Ron won't harm a standard UK car. Try a few tankfulls of each and compare performace and fuel consumption. If you feel justified in using super then all good. If you find that it makes bugga all difference then do as we do and save your dosh

I have heard that the ECU will start to learn. And if using 95RON it will learn to this, etc etc.
I also have heard that the better the RON the less det will happen. I have tried 95 and 99 in my standard UK turbo, and found there is a slight difference, the 99 will run better, and smoother, where as 95 will seem to hold back
