Default idle problems, please help!?

my impreza wrx, is reving its self on idle, and if i boot it and put the clutch down to slow down,the revs drope rite down to nothing, and then it cuts out??

any suggestion on why it is doing this?

air flow sensor was my thought?

its doing my head in!!

you mention an induction kit and a fmic in your other post..

either you have killed the maf sensor due to above or it needs setting up for the mods fitted.

it has been running fine for weeks? just seems to have happened overnight?

the inducvtion kit you have fitted won't help the maf..

make sure it is not covering the maf in oil and / or dust.. also secure the maf housing / filter to the body of the car, not the engine as vibrations kill the maf.

have you checked for any air leaks?? this will cause poor idle and can cause it to cut out.

Im having the exact same problem on my 95 WRX. Its not the MAF the idle control valve or the water temp sensor as they have all been replaced. It wasn’t cheap and didn’t sort it. Getting a bit fed up with it now.
