15psi is just over 1 bar.
What year car do you have as different versions have varying boost and fuel cut levels

They are good, but be careful, check the fueling is ok and not running lean. And don't wind it to much as you will get boost spiking, and you will head butt the windscreen. It is very tempting to wind it more to get more, but as above says there is a fuel cut level. Best to set it when its cold.
All I would say enjoy and be careful.

Think it will be a TD04 turbo. I have a 98 UK car, and I'm pretty sure the WRX will use the same 'small' turbo.

Fuel cut is a parameter set so that the ECU cuts fuel when the boost creeps above what it regards as a 'safe' level.

Mine did it before I had the car mapped, because the boost was creeping up to about 1.1 bar.

Hope that helps.

late model wrxs should have Vf22/vf29 depending on when the car was made (early 98 vf22/late 98 vf29) that's if it's standard but grinding the numbers off seems a bit odd.

From what ive been told around 14-15 psi should be fine on your car.

i would personally take it to a rolling road to make sure eveything is alright then think about messing about BUT i wouldn't use a MBC to raise your boost.

My mate has one of these fitted to his car HDI
Admittedly he does have a forged engine rebuild and runs 1.3 bar it has an inbuilt fcd and raises it in relation to the boost setting.

my00 fuel cuts at 1.21bar. 17 psi is 1.17 bar. This is there for safe on my00, i used MBC set at 1.1= 15.95 or 16 psi for 2 yrs befor i removed and had a remap.

Sorry for the tread hijack but what boost pressure were you able to hold to the redline with a TD04 scoobydoo? Just curious as to what can be done with it, and whether it just starts blowing hot air. The fuel cut being higher on the MY99 and 00 cars means you can get quite a lot of mid range punch but I was wondering whether it will take 16psi to the redline?
