So what is the problem with Blobeye suspension?
I'm fully aware of the issue with the knocking on the blobeye shocks (had my own done twice under warranty ) but I'm wondering what the actual problem is.
Also:
Sorry if this has all been asked before.
Also:
- Is it dangerous to continue driving the car with the problem/knocking?
- Is the only remedy replacing the entire unit?
- Is there a "fix" that can be done that is easier/cheaper than replacing them?
Sorry if this has all been asked before.

The fix is short term I believe and was re-greasing some parts of the shock. Thats about as much as I know i'm afraid, sure someone else will be able to assist unless you find the info through search first.
I was lead to believe it's 100% safe just an annoying noise.

- Is it dangerous to continue driving the car with the problem/knocking? If you have just a knocking strut, then no its just the top plain bush drying out and wearing slightly and so the outer piston knocks in the bush. If the rear suspension traveled more then the top bush would lube itself better, but the sti springs are rather stiff.
- Is the only remedy replacing the entire unit? No you can re-grease the strut by taking it apart- real easy- as long as the damage is not too far gone it will be much better. Actually jacking up the rear can grease the top bush to an extent.
- Is there a "fix" that can be done that is easier/cheaper than replacing them? See above. And scoobyclinic do a rebuilding service for £100, they fit a longer top bush and re-grease the unit.

always worth trying the 'jack it up' option first. my rear drivers was knocking terribly with a load of golf gear in the back, i jacked it up and the noise went away
since had prodrive springs added and the guy who fitted them said the shock was very worn, but he greased them up and there's been no noise at all since he done them (about 3-4 months)
i think i read on here that the shock sits at a funny angle and that's what produces the premature wear. dunno how true this is though.

I used to jack mine up once a month (ish) and leave the rear wheels off the ground over night. Worked a treat for a short while but the knocking does come back. Ive now switched to coil overs and all round i feel the car is much better.
