put a socket on the crankshaft bolt with a long extension bar on.then wedge the bar somewere solid,then turn the ignition key just a flick so it just cranks the engine.this will crack the bolt enough so that you can turn it with a spanner.if it doesnt just give it another flick.just make sure you wedge the bar at the correct side as one way will tighten and one way will loosen.

I'm assuming your trying to take of the toothed sprocket?
If so this requires a gear puller to pull it away from the woodruff key....all the ones i have done were done with a puller. I obviously did this when the engine was out.
If you find a better way do let me know.
Just to ensure we're talking about the same thing...it's the purple one in this picture of the RCM gobstopper.

the castleated pulley is sometimes a bugger to come off. the is a woodrough key locating it. some people use a three legged puller. mine came off no probs but i've seen a pic on here of a guy with a puller on it.

thanks guys, engine is out now. could i use a bearing pusher/puller to do the job? looking for some were to send my bottom end for repair, any tuners/engine rebuilders on here fancy giving use a qoute? or could some advise me of were to take it?
