Default knock,knock?

well boys im not happy came off a round about yesterday and gave it some wellie from 2nd into 3rd and it just droped right off power then knock knock, flipping knock? the engine sounds fooked no oil light or check engine light is on, but the oil pressure gauge show the oil pressure is slightly lower than normal? im thinking along the line of big ends, bottom end or oil pump shafted?

any 1 else had this? was gonna get it in bits today and find out? just cant beleive my luck

Sounds as if the oil pump might have failed and caused a shell to run dry.

Had this happen in an Evo 6. By the time I got it home, the top end had gone too and I had to get a new engine.

You cant really do jack to a scooby engine with it in place, even with the sump off, take it out and be done with it.

Remember the crank is rotating between two block halves which are laying horizontally. When you do take the sump of you will see a few things but have no access to them until you pull the engine out and strip it from top to bottom.

The joys of owning a Scoob i suppose.

Good Luck.

PS - quite a few DIY forums for engine rebuilds in projects have a nose and familarise yourself, if your handy you could save yourself a fortune.

you joker you won't get a better Subaru forum than ScoobyNET hehe.

Basically you just go to the main forum page where it lists ......The Hutch, Other Marques. General/Technical, Drivetrain etc etc and you will see projects. Thats for your future reference.

In the mean time here's Nicks DIY build of his engine.....and get reading.

https://www.scoobynet.com/projects-4...e-rebuild.html

Plus he's a great chap...AKA Silent Running...if you need any help all you gotta do is ask pal there's plenty of people on here who will guide you.
