Default exhaust advice

i expect this has been asked loads of times but here goes. What is the best system to buy to improve performance but not too loud. Will i gain much with a new system ,air filter fuel filter then a remap?
my car is an 04 wrx bog standard

If you were closer I'd sell you mine

If nice but a little naughty is your choice you can't beat a TSL de-res. centre with their Group N back-box. No boom at motorway speeds, no complaints from the next-doors, and still sounds sporty.

All IMHO

I've a TSL system from the downpipe back and it's a lovely sound. With a sports cat you'll probably see 20 or so bhp more, not much more than 5 with just a midpipe, rear and filter.

Since you're not far from them, give power station a call as they will transform your car into a monster if you have the funds.

Yes. The downpipe is either a decat (MOT fail but more power and cheaper) or a sports cat (MOT pass, slightly less power than a decat but expensive).

Most go for the decat route but it depends if you want the hassle of putting the stock downpipe back on once a year. I'm going to go for a sports cat and then a new fuel pump and plugs. After that I should see 350bhp and 380lbs of torque. In a 2.0 WRX you should be looking at the early 300s for both but a much better car to drive.

No sorry, early 300s after a remap as well. As standard an 04 is around the 225 to 235 mark.

270ish bhp sounds about right after exhaust and re-map.

I've been using Powerstation for years and never had a problem apart for taking my money .

ME ?

Erm I'm in South Leeds / Wakefield... was hoping a club member would take it off my hands, (with TSL sports cat of course !)

LOL

dunx

P.S. Powerstation are among the best, but they (helped ?) developed the Milltek, so sell them obviously....

That's about right - Prodrive PPP sports cat and backbox, panel filter, remap got me to 270bhp from 215bhp in my bugeye.

An impression you've made up in your head I think

There's nothing wrong with powerstation, and Milltek exhausts are very good, you still get all the performance benefits, but without the obnoxious sound of a scoobyworld special, blitz, etc, if you don't like that sort of thing, even on a full decat system without any resonators.

I'd rather go to Zen personally, but Powerstation are still good.

270 is about it with single decat (no down pipe) as that's exactly what i have. Mate has the same car but with cold plugs, filter, fuel pump and full MOT fail decat and only gets 290 so a lot more expense for 20bhp.

5t.

Just have done with it and get a full decat downpipe, and either a full Blitz Nur Spec R or Afterburner Vortex system.

Then add a new panel filter, upgraded fuel pump and then remap!
