In what sense? Are the revs rising without any speed increase?
If your up pipe is leaking, it can sound like a knocking/clacking sound, and you may feel a drop in performance.
My last car had the turbo to up pipe blow, very noisy!

Yeah, my old ra had a leak in its oe up pipe, was not really very noisy but used to boost fine, then flat spot (acceleration wise, while revs increased) for about 1000revs, say from about 4k to 5/5.5k then carry on pulling as normal, the clutch was fine in that car as far as i know, then i sold it with a new up pipe supplied but not fitted, and still the problem so i never really knew if it was the up pipe for sure causing it, but if i got under the car with it ticking over, i could definately hear it blowing.

Back to the original question, yes my revs do rise without hard pull, from about 4k in 3rd and 4th, but speed does still increase, i did hear a little rattle under the bonnet the other day, come to think of it, like a washer on a loose bolt.

I imagine the flat spot gave the impresion it was slipping, as it would never affect the clutch.

Unless the clutch is slipping, un-related.

I suppose that it ultimately what i am asking, there is definately a chance my clutch is slipping, it is an old standard one, and i am running around 370 ftlb's, so i am aware that it is likely, but i was just wondering if a leaking up pipe could genuinely be mistaken for a slipping clutch in certain circunstances?

Best thing to do is to swop your rubbish 20g for my much better 16g, then the power won't be as much of a problem!
Really, my cars clutch is slipping badley with 330bhp, yours is doing well with that setup!
Im getting an AP clutch and APi flywheel in january, so should sort it out.
You could be loosing a lot of performance with that clutch, change it!

You are most definately right mate, spoke to dave at API the other day and he offered me a very well priced Exedy/API hybrid clutch, good for 400ftlb's, i am just in that bloody limbo land at the moment, where i have just literally got this car setup very well, and i still cant run it up the pod, frustrating!i wanted to wait to do the clutch until my 2.1 is ready, bloody cars

What price did you get? Im looking at £440 for the clutch, £120 for the fly. I was told to go for the AP, but if the exedy's much cheaper, then i might go for that instead.

Speak to Dave mate, it was iirc 325 or 375 plus vat for the clutch, and 150 plus vat for the fly. Sorry its a bit vague but i have had so many fugures through my head in the last month i forgets, duh!

If you give him a call he will help, the only thing i will say about API and this clutch, which other suppliers can struggle with, is that David assures me this is a proven 400+ clutch, proven by API, which sounds good to me. It keeps this purchase out of the silly money next level!
