ticking / tappety sound

Just bought an 03 impreza GX sport wagon. It makes a quiet ticking / tappety sound when blipping the throttle at low revs / pulling away. Is this normal? Used to Hondas so I don't know what sounds are normal for this engine. Any pointers much appreciated. Thanks!

Could simply be tappets.

Other things could be:-

- BCS (boost control solenoid) duty cycling
- PCV (purge control valve)

Is a little tappet noise normal / nothing to bother with?

Injectors can be quite noisey aswell!!
